Ralph’s Supermercado Enhances Checkout Experience with HiStone’s Integrated Self-Checkout Solution

San Juan (Puerto Rico), Qingdao (China) - In a decisive step toward retail modernization, Ralph’s Supermercado Montehiedra has deployed HiStone’s self-service technology to create a faster, more flexible checkout experience that supports both digital and cash-preferred shoppers. With growing foot traffic and increasing service expectations, the store needed to reduce queue times, optimize staff deployment, and deliver a faster, more autonomous checkout experience.

A deployment of integrated self-service technology has been demonstrated in Puerto Rico by HiStone (San Jose, CA, and Qingdao, China). A channel team of distributor Girboy Technologies (Westin, FL) and ISV/VAR Multi Business Systems (San Juan, PR) worked to field the HiStone HS520U Self-Checkout System-with automated cash management via PayPod by Crane Payment Innovations (Malvern, PA) - at Ralph's Supermercado Montehiedra in San Juan. It represents the first installment of HS520U with PayPod in the Americas. The integration with PayPod™ delivers secure, automated cash acceptance and change dispensing — enabling Ralph’s to offer full self-service while still accommodating traditional payment behavior.
A modular design for HiStone's HS520U furnishes necessary peripherals of 27" true-flat capacitive touchscreen, built-in 3"/80 mm thermal printer, 1D/2D scanner platform with scale, and card reader for MSR+RFID. With Intel 11th Gen Core i3 or Core i5, 4 GB/16 GB RAM, and up to 512 GB Storage, it runs Windows 10/11 and Linux. A full range of brackets, shelves, and I/O ports are included for installation flexibility.

All 13 locations of the supermarket chain will deploy the self-service from HiStone, in Models HS520U, HS610M, and HS710.
